Funny you did this thread about music that moves. I say that because yesterday at work yesterday, I had my earbuds in listening to a collection of James Brown's ballads. By the way he was VERY underrated when it came to slow songs. I was checking out MSNBC and they had a photo slide showing smiling pictures of all who've died this year, and while listening to one of JB's ballads, titled, If I Ruled the World, it made me unexectedly emotional. I don't get like that often, what I mean is, I'm usually angry or frustrated, or cynical, but for that split moment in time I felt deeply sentimental and full of remorse. For that split second it would have felt good to die, to be honest with you. During the slide show, they even had a picture of Osama Bin Laden, and he was smiling with such a warmth that it was difficult to remember what he was responsible for, especially with JB crooning in my ears. It was a heck of a moment. Oh well, anyways............

The questions were frustrating because they didn't allow for a spectrum, it was all or nothing.
Agreed, it's far too black and white, and in some cases completely unrealistic. Here's my results, but if someone were to ever ask me, I'd tell them I swing more conservative than liberal.
You Are 35% Conservative, 65% Liberal
Social Issues: 75% Conservative, 25% Liberal
Personal Responsibility: 25% Conservative, 75% Liberal
Fiscal Issues: 50% Conservative, 50% Liberal
Ethics: 0% Conservative, 100% Liberal
Defense and Crime: 25% Conservative, 75% Liberal -

March 2012 Awake- Why are JWs so angry?
by serenitynow! inwell, that is what the title should say.
it actually says, "why are people so angry?
" i think it's funny because anytime i try to say anything to a jw that is not praising the f&ds and the org, i get nothing but anger from them.

I just downloaded it on the strength of your thread. Classic case the pot calling the kettle black.
There's an outline that was generated from the branch for CO's to go over in their meeting with the elders during the CO visit. Part of the outline addresses specifically the need for those part of the elder body to get along with one another. Anyone that's ever been an elder, or privy to what goes on in those meetings, will tell you that there's often animosity, jealousy, and even outright hatred in some cases. There's alliances, cliques, nepotism, lone wolfs, liberals, hard liners, you name it and it's there on the elder body. It's almost like a game of Survivor. I can't tell you how many times as a kid that I and my siblings stayed out of my father's way when he came home from an elder meeting. He was full of of angst and vitriol.
They've got a lot of nerve to talk about the anxiety in the world. The Kingdom Hall at times can remind one of a hybrid made up of equal parts Psych ward and a juvenile detention center. It's full of people on antidepressants, antianxiolytics, and antipsychotics. Compound that with the hamster wheel likestyle and the constant admonition that one can never do enough for Jehovah, mixed with logic and reasoning being trounced in the name of uniformity and loyalty to organization based off of a perveted interpretation of a parable, it's no wonder the congregation is full stressed out heart attack victims waiting to happen. '
By the way, page 27 of that magazine, particulary the asterisk that's listed after it mentions the individual who's OCD is treated successfuly with medication. It states, "The Awake does not endorse any specific medical treatment." Ironic for them to state that considering the purpose of Hospital Liason Committees, and enforced shunning as a result of an erroneous interpretation on blood related to dietary measures written over 2000 years ago. Not to mention their history on vaccinations, aluminum, and organ transplants being compared to cannibalism. So why now all of a sudden don't they want to get dogmatic and offer their doctine opinion?

ok jw teaching aside, can you see a time coming when religon will cease to exist?
by highdose inpossibly this could happen in a dramatic sudden way or a slow burn but can you see the human race progressing to the point were they no longer need to belive in these myths and legends?.

I wish it'd happen tonight, but no, I don't see that happening anytime soon. I see the WT becoming largely irrelevant in people's lives, especially with the amount of young people leaving. For many of those who stay now, it's only because of family, close friends, and in some instances their very livelyhood. Other than that, the religion is already largely irrelevant for many, simply a large charade done to keep up appearances until it becomes painfully obvious to even the most die hard fanatic of JWs that something is drastically wrong with this religion. I wonder at times how that makes the WT feel? I adjusted a microphone for a WT Heavyweight at a Circuit Assembly some weeks ago, and to think he has absolutely no idea that an apostate smiled at him and told him, "good job" as he was walking off the stage to applause. I imagine there are plenty within the audience who only clap because they feel emotionally obligated to be in attendance and keep up appearances. The day will come when there will be no need to maintain the illusion, it's just a matter of when.
